Top Line takes an athlete-centered approach: Our mission is to work with you, the athlete, to achieve your top athletic potential in balance with your health and life goals. Our philosophy is that happiness and enjoyment of sport lead to optimal performance.

We understand that appropriate challenge and consistency of training are required in order to see fitness gains which, in turn, enhance enjoyment! Our coaching programs are built on empirically based exercise physiology principles and tailored to each client's individual goals.

We understand that athletes maintain busy family, work, and personal lives. Therefore, we ensure that your plan fits with each of the components of your life with the aim to achieve a healthy balance among them.

Our coaching programs lead athletes through the appropriate phases of training stimulus, recovery, and adaptation. These phases are designed with race goals in mind to ensure that athletes are in peak physiological condition at the time of their goal event(s). Our programs are tailored to athletes' sport background, level of skill, and experience in competitive sports. FAQ

Learn about the

Top Line Coaching process:

  • Start by submitting your details in the contact form at the top of this page so that we can schedule a 20-minute video chat. During this chat, we will discuss your background and interests to determine what the next steps may be.

  • Once we have our initial discussion, we will schedule a second call to talk further about your goals and current work/family/training schedule. You will complete several forms, including a waiver, which I will use to create your training plan. Nicole will design your training plan and upload 1-3-week blocks of the plan to a coaching platform called “Final Surge”.

  • Coaching is appropriate for every level of athlete, from elite to advanced to beginner. The key to a successful coaching relationship is a love for the sport, a willingness to learn, and open communication. Every athlete has the potential to succeed in the sport with the right attitude and a desire to seek excellence.

  • Every athlete is unique in terms of their background, experience, and goals in the sport. However, some basic exercise physiology principles apply to every athlete's fitness trajectory. All training plans are based on a 3-1 or 2-1 cycle of build weeks-recovery week/days. Your training will slowly and gradually build in volume and intensity as you progress through a race season. Most athletes plan 1-2 "A" races and 3-4 "B" races for the year. "A" races are the races you will be in peak condition for and your training will be designed to increase in intensity and volume towards that peak period. Training is stochastic in nature; that is, it contains mini-cycles of build and recovery throughout the weeks and months to allow your body to stretch its tolerance and then adapt through recovery. Every athlete's needs are personally considered in their training plan so that work, family, and personal life are in balance with training.
